Dear Young Leader,
The idea of "raising the bar" in interviews is centered on establishing higher benchmarks that all candidates must reach. It’s like saying, "We only want the best, and we’re not going to settle for less." ∆This is to make sure employers hire the very best fit for their team. Instead of just looking for just anybody who can do the job, it’s more about finding someone who can make the whole team better.∆ It’s a strategy that helps build stronger teams, improve company culture, and ensure long-term success. So, the next time you’re hiring, remember to raise the bar and find someone who truly shines.

Today's Article Spotlight 👏👏
You may be familiar with the term “bar raising” which is often associated to athletics, where it means increasing the height of a horizontal bar that an athlete must clear. ¶Today, the phrase has taken on a broader meaning that encompasses the idea of setting higher standards during interview, pushing beyond limits and striving for excellence in all areas of life.¶
However, bar-raising is technically the final stage of selection, taking place after an initial interview, test task, and the collection of references. The interview is carried out by a top-level specialist who does not work on the project to which the candidate is applying. Thus, the Bar Raiser is not interested in closing a specific position and, therefore, can give objective and unbiased feedback. ∆During a bar raiser interview, it is not the candidate's hard skills that are checked, but their soft skills and how they would fit within the company's culture.∆
