Today's Article Spotlight 👏
Hey! Yes, you. What's going on in your life lately. Anything exciting or worth sharing, or it is just a roller-coaster of events? Well, whatever you are being served on your plate, simply enjoy the meal. Bear in mind this piece is not about food. ¶By enjoying the meal, l mean, embrace whatever situation you are facing right now.¶
I am not telling you to embrace everything life throws at you, that's too much even for me, but l am telling you to enjoy the present, the now, and the current. In Latin, l would say, Carpe Punctum, meaning 'Seize the moment.' Yo! you just learnt a new Latin phrase. Yay! way to go💃 in seizing the moment.
Truth be told, seizing the moment is one hell of a job, when you have a lot going on around you. You tend to miss every moment without being aware. But that's alright, don't be hard on yourself, that can change. How is that even possible? you ask yourself. Trust me, it’s nothing new, but guess what, your approach towards life can change by making decisions from an informed perspective. Aha, you just heard me right, overtime you become more informed, and wiser than you were years back. That changes everything.
¶It is much easier to seize the moment, when you have seized who you are as an individual. Seeing yourself in the lens of your best self goes a long way in living a content life.¶ Accept yourself for who you are, make changes that need to be made, and always keep in mind that you are the catch. You are the prize. ¶When you have accepted yourself for who you are, you make decisions from an informed perspective.¶ Seizing every moment is a decision, it requires you to be aware of who you are, and what you are not.
Accept who you are, and let go of the need to control every narrative. As individuals, we have a tendency to want to be in control all the time, be it the past, or the future. This makes it harder to seize the moment, because you miss moments while trying to control stuff happening around you, and sometimes it stuff that has barely even happened, or that may never see the light of the day. Move in with the flow, even if it might be uncomfortable.
Once you let go of the need to control, you let go of the past. It has been said that a man's greatest enemy against his present moment is the past. The trauma, the scars, the hurt, the bad mistakes that you play over and over in your head to remind yourself what a bad person you are. Let me tell you this, to err is human. I am not telling you this to flatter you, or try to sugar-coat all the mistakes you made. It is a gentle reminder that beating yourself about the past won't change anything, not now, not ever. Therefore, Live in the moment!
And of course, to live in the moment comes with making new habits that would benefit you, and the people around you too. Not forgetting to also break ties with every bad habit that has landed you in situations where you have found it hard to seize the moments in your life. With that being said, l can safely say, it is a good habit to seize every moment in your life. It is healthy for your mental health, spiritually, and for you as an individual.
