However, today's Article Spotlight is on Fixity Of Purpose.👏👏
Another new year is upon us, and it's only normal that most of us have already set our goals for the year. If you are yet to set any goals in motion, get to it already.🤗 ¶Most of the time, the problem is not in the setting of goals, but staying true to them.¶ As social beings, we are bound to be influenced by the people and things around us. This explains why the best of us cannot stay focused on a goal.
Not staying focused on your goals for the year makes it difficult for you to measure your success at the end of the year. This is why it always feels like you have done nothing, while in reality, there's a lot more you can achieve when you have your attention fixiated on your goals.
With the rate at which human attention span keeps reduces, it is becoming more difficult to fixate on our purpose. But here are a few tips that might help:
Have both short and long-term goals: Short-term goals serve as motivation to complete long-term goals. ¶Short-term goals afford you the opportunity to consolidate on what works.¶
Avoid distractions: People can be a blessing and a distraction at the same time. Even your personal lifestyle can be a huge distraction. Track back on anything that looks like a distraction. If you spend so much time watching TV shows and movies when you're not an actor, you need to put a check on that!
Seek mentorship: Whatever goals you seek to achieve, someone else has already walked that path ahead of you. Ensure that you consult and speak to these people for guidance because, most of the time, distraction comes from a place of confusion. Eliminate confusion through mentorship.
Be focused: Being focused comes with a lot of discipline and self-denial. You might feel like it's a whole lot, but you will be glad you did.
Above all, be original. You can't always follow trends when they lead to different objectives. You're first a UNIT. ¶Not being original robs you of your originality.¶ It is not exactly easy to stay focused on your purpose, but as Samuel Warren said; There is probably no man living, though ever so great a fool, that cannot do something or the other well." There is a lot you can achieve; Start Now!
