Without further ado, today's Spotlight is on Self Mastery. Trust me, I had you in mind when writing this creative piece, yes you! I am confident that this will help you in your journey of self discovery and self awareness. What do you think when you hear the term "Self-Mastery"? You might picture someone like a Martial Arts Master β calm, focused, and in control at all times. Or, maybe you imagine people who have their lives planned, and are in control of their own future.
Self Mastery is a broad term that covers many aspects of your personal and professional life. Self mastery is the ability to take control of your own life. It allows you to recognize and understand your thought processes, habits and behaviors. It is therefore a choice; the way in which you choose to be within the world. The path to self mastery begins with developing your self-awareness. The more you understand your pattern of reactions and emotions, the more control you will have over your life. By being self aware, we can act with intention rather than an automatic reaction that we canβt control.
Self-mastery starts with a vision of how you want your life to be. Think about people you know who don't have any self-mastery. They're probably impulsive and rash. They might let their emotions control them, yelling at colleagues when they're angry, and then being overly polite to make up for this later. They're unpredictable and, as a result, people see them as untrustworthy.
When you demonstrate self-mastery at work, you prove to your superior and colleagues that you have the inner strength and steadiness needed for effective leadership. So it's well worth the effort to invest time developing self-mastery. You'll likely become a happier, more balanced person β and you'll find that opportunities arise because of this. Improving focus is also key to self-mastery.
Self Mastery will also help you stake a balance in your life with both your professional life and your personal life. It also help give you a peaceful mind and life thereby letting you have a good mental health. When you have a good mental health, you are able to think clearly, make friends, and learn new things. This also helps develop self-confidence, build self-esteem, practice perseverance, learn to set goals, practice making decisions, learn coping skills, manage difficult emotions, and develop a healthy emotional outlook on life.
